Breathing new life into an old floor: Floor refurbishment & hardwood refinishing
Sometimes even the best hardwood floor needs a facelift. You might be renovating an old home and desiring to make the flooring within look as good as the day it was originally built. Or, you might have decided that it is time to take up that old carpet in the living room and go back to the original wood floor. Or, your cherished hardwood floor may have seen enough wear and tear to make it look like you hosted Richard Petty’s last birthday party. If any of this describes you or if you simply need some flooring maintenance, we have your solution.
Sanding and refinishing
At Deitz Flooring Design, we delight to see the look on your face when you first see the results of our hardwood floor refinishing service in your home. Not only does it breathe new life into the flooring, but it also transforms the look of the whole room when a once dull floor now glistens in the sunlight. We promise that you will be impressed.
How does this process work? First, we bring in sanders and remove both the old varnish and stain as well as sanding off a thin layer of the original hardwood. The process of sanding floors not only gives us fresh wood to work with but it also will fill in any nail or tack holes if the room formerly had wall-to-wall carpet installed.
Once sanded, if you desire a stain to be applied, we will do so. You might choose a stain that matches the original flooring as closely as possible or you might choose a different stain color to match other furniture or trim that you have in the room. You might also choose to go with the natural color of the wood and not have a stain applied to it; the choice is yours. Then, our craftsmen will apply several coats of quality polyurethane to protect the finish and seal the wood. This will ensure that the wood floor will look its best as it serves you for years to come.

When it comes to general flooring maintenance, we can help with that as well. We carry a variety of products which will help you keep your floor looking its best on a day to day basis, but sometimes just that extra professional touch is needed. For instance, many flooring companies recommend a light new coat of finish is applied. We are pleased to assist you with this as well.
